Thinking Out of the Box

I went to the Goodwill store again. I think I am becoming addicted to it. They don’t know my name yet but they are beginning to recognize me. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

I did find a couple of treasures I want to share with you. Each one is not used for its intended purpose. I repurposed them. I love to think outside of the box.

IMG_0733I saw the frame and immediately thought chalkboard! I painted it blue and distressed it a little and painted the glass with chalkboard paint. I do need to redo the writing. I told you about the jar in my post about the table My Man built for me. I need more soap.

IMG_0736I think I have shown this mug before too. I was using it as a mug until I let it slip while I was washing it and cracked it. Now I am going to put some dried flowers in it.

IMG_0734I had to have this bunny the moment I set eyes on it. Guess what it is really used for.

IMG_0735A creamer!! How cute! I’m going to use it in the guest bathroom as a toothbrush holder.

IMG_0739 Ok, I have had this Sundae bowl for as long as I can remember. Never use it for ice cream. I was looking for something I could use as a spoon rest that said “summer.” Does anything else say “summer” like an Sundae bowl?

I love using things in ways they were not intended to be used. You can see some of the other things I have used differently here

We all have gifts and talents God has given us. Too often, I find myself looking at the usual ways people would use gifts and talents. If we can sing we join the choir. If we teach school we are asked to work with the children of the church. You get my point. We get so easily burned out on doing the same ol’ same ol’ ministries.

But, what if we were to ask God to show us a different way to use our gifts, talents and skills? He has endless possibilities of how we can use what He has given us to serve Him. We just have to ask. We just have to be open to the possibilities He may have.

How have you used things differently? How have you used your God-given things differently?

Hope you all have a great week!

  1. my wife calls the salvation army store in town Sally Maes……love the way you connect the way you have “rescued” items once discarded, to be used with new purposes…..such a good thought..never thought about how God rescues us and gives us new purposes in that way! Thanks and God bless Jayne. By the way, I love the chalk board idea….!
