Sweet and Sour Chicken

Do you ever get tired of cooking the same old same old?  I sure do.

Here’s an interesting question for you. Would you rather fast for 40 days or eat the same thing over and over for 40 years?

I think I would rather fast for 40 days. I don’t know if I could come up with that many different ways to cook the same thing.

This all leads to the fact that I was looking for a new way to cook chicken. I decided to try some sweet and sour chicken. Now, this may not be new to many of you, but for My Man and me it is. Especially MM. He’s not sure about Chinese food. He likes his good ol’ southern cooking.  Much to his surprise, MM liked it.

Whatcha Need

  • 2 pounds chicken tenderloin chunks
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce

Putting It All Together

Place right into the crock pot the brown sugar,

IMG_0296soy sauce,

and pineapple juice.

IMG_0302Stir it all together.

IMG_0303Add the chicken. Mine was frozen so I just threw the whole tenders in.

IMG_0306I got my pineapple juice from the can of pineapples and decided to put some pineapple chunks in as well.

IMG_0308Cover and let cook on low for 6-8 hours.

I put mine on at about 8 in the morning. I checked it at about 1 that afternoon. I wanted to cut the chicken into chunks. It was done. So I turned it setting to “Keep Warm.”

Serve with rice and some stir fried vegetables. I think I have gotten MM hooked on Chinese food!

So, would you rather fast for 40 days or eat the same thing for 40 years?

I bet fresh pineapple would be even better. I want to try grilling some pineapple the next time we grill chicken, which will hopefully be this weekend.

Hearing from you makes my day!
