Red,White and Blue Tables

For us, the Fourth of July means going to the lake. This has been a tradition for My Man all his life, for all my kids’ life and for all my married life, which is now more than half of my life.

Up until MM’s grandparents passed, his parents would camp in their camper on their property. My mother in-law would deck that camper out for the Fourth. She would hang a flag, lights, a patriotic wind sock, and set out chairs to invite you to stay for a while.

Of course, we would have all the family over, since they live there, and have a huge cookout! There wasn’t enough room in the house for everyone, so tables and chairs were set up. Not much thought ever went into decorating the tables.

I’m changing that!

Here is the beginning of what I plan. The pictures were taken indoors, but we will definitely be outdoors!

IMG_0825How do you like the table runner? It is really wrapping paper I got for $1. I folded it into thirds to get it this size.

IMG_0826We use the finest of “country china” and silverware for our picnics. Ok, you are probably wondering how we are going to drink out of those fine country glasses.

Don’t you just love the tops? Found them for $2!

IMG_1148MM drilled holes for the straws to fit through. Now we don’t have to worry about bugs getting into our drinks.

Silverware kitYou can find out how I made these silverware kits here.

I plan on adding a lot more. Here’s a taste of what I am planning.

I’m going to hang lots and lots of lights. I like the red ones on the table, too.

goodie bags Talk of the House

I made some of these goodie bags last year. Think I’ll do it again!

masthead_image1_1399138774 Watermelon will be the centerpiece! Again, this is from Kelly at Talk of the House. I just love the way she decorates!

pinwheels I may even get industrious and make some pinwheels. You did notice that I emphasized the word “may?” Here’s my link to make them.

For most of us, the table is where we gather with our families. It is where we share our day, our thoughts and plans and even a few laughs.  We are there to not only nourish our body but our hearts as well.

We can also nourish our souls by sharing what the Lord has done on our lives that day.  We can do that by sharing a word picture of the beautiful flower we saw, or how someone shared God’s love with us with a phone call. There are so many ways we see God each day. We just have to take the time to notice and then share Him with others.

Don’t forget about the Give Away. Here is what you can win. Click here to enter to win. Hurry though! It ends on June 23rd.

Love ya!
