Felt Heart Ornament

“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son that whoever should believe in him will have everlasting life.” John 3:16

To be more exact, Jesus, Himself said those words.

God’s love for us is why we celebrate Christmas. These felt heart ornaments remind me of that.

As you make these for your tree, reflect on how very much God does love you.

  • red felt (or paper)
  • scissors
  • scratch paper
  • pencil
  • thin wire
  • wire cutters
  • toothpick

Putting It All Together

Using scratch paper, draw and cut out hearts the size you want them. Trace them onto the felt and cut them out. Sorry, no picture for this. I’m just forgetful that way.

WP_20131204_025Cut a piece of wire about 3-4 inches long.

WP_20131204_026Carefully poke the wire through the heart. Mom and Dad if you are making these with the kids, you want to do this. It’s a little hard.

I can hear your child now, “No Mommy! I can do it!”

WP_20131204_028Roll the wire onto the toothpick. I was out of toothpicks so I used a small screw driver.

WP_20131204_029Carefully, bend the wire and squish the swirled wire so that the wire is pointing up. See the picture for that. I didn’t explain that very well.

Repeat sticking the wire through and rolling it and squishing it.

Hang on your tree!

I made several of these for our tree.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hearing from you makes my day!
