I have an absolute mess at my house that is driving me crazy!
It’s my own fault I have this mess.
This Great. Big. Mess!
Just look at it!
So, I take it you have figured out I am redecorating the kitchen. Total make over. Right now, I am working on the bottom cabinets to get them painted and put back up. Later this week I will start on the top cabinets to get them primed and painted and back up. In between all the cabinets, the walls and the trim and the pantry door has to be painted as well.
AND, with all this going on life still goes on. I still have to cook and wash dishes.
Seriously thinking about some paper plates right about now.
I have to wash clothes and pay the bills and balance the checkbook, which, by the way, did not want to balance this month. Took me forever to get it to balance.
On top of all this, Friday I have to go to pick up Dillon from school and bring him home for the summer. I am very excited about that, but I know the mess he is going to add to the house.
Now for the cherry on top…I’m having a baby shower here in less than two weeks! Can you say stress?
Life can be like my house. It can be messy. Sometimes we make the mess ourselves, and sometimes others mess it up for us. Sometimes accidents happen that bring messes into our lives.
There are times when the mess is necessary to make changes and to make things better. There are times when the mess has to be in your live for a while in order for the work to get done. And even with the mess in your life, life still has to go on. The bills still have to be paid, the cooking still needs to be done, and at least the dishes and the clothes have to be washed.
How do you deal with the messes? I deal with both the redecorating and life messes the same way. Prayer.
I pray for wisdom in handling the mess in an organized manner. I ask what I should tackle first.
I pray for patience. Patience in the time it will take to get the task done. Patience in doing the task at hand and not getting in a rush and making mistakes. Patience with God as He does His work. We all get impatient with Him from time to time.
I pray for God to do what I can’t do. In decorating that would be coming up with ideas and inspiration. In life, that’s just about everything.
I thank God for the work I am able to do myself. That I have the time, talent, skills and the physical ability to do the work. Same for life. Sometimes in life’s mess, I have to use what He has given me to join Him in His work on me and the situation.
I thank Him also for the materials I have to work with. The tools needed for the job as well as a little thing called money to get what I need. He is the great Provider.
Painting and sanding give you a lot of thinking time. I try to use the time to worship through song, by meditating on His word, by memorizing His word. I also use the time as a prayer time to lift others up. Try to use it wisely. (The operative word being try. My mind can bounce around like a ball in a pinball machine.)
I think being able to stay home and care for my house and family are a true blessing from God. I love what I do. I thank Him for allowing me to be able to do what I love. I’m thankful that this home can be used for His glory and I ask Him to use it just for that each and everyday. Even in the mist of this Great. Big. Mess.
Are you working on a project? I’d love to hear about it, big or small.
