If you haven’t guessed by now, I love Mason jars! There are so many things you can do with them beside their intended purpose of canning food in them.
For instance, Mason jars are considered fine crystal here in the South. We love to drink out of them. And if it is summertime, they are sure to be full of sweet tea. Shoot, anytime of the year they will be full of sweet tea.
The South does have its one summertime problem. Bugs! Lots of bugs! And if you are outside on your porch swing trying to enjoy a glass of sweet tea, you will probably get a bug or two to fly right in your glass.
Two “why didn’t I think of that” solutions can help with this problem.
Mason jar lid and cupcake liners!
I found these adorable lids at my local Fred’s store (not paid to say that). Or was it Dollar General? (not paid to say that either) I can’t remember, but I do remember they were only $2 for six of them!!! My Man whipped out his trusty drill and drilled me some holes right smack in the middle of those lids! Straw fits perfectly. Let’s see a bug get in my drink now!
There are so many other ways to use Mason jars as a part of your celebration and decorating all Red, White and Blue! Let’s take a look.
How about using red, white and blue bandannas as napkins? Just put everything needed into the jar. Then fill that jar with sweet tea!
What a great way to set out all the plastic…I mean, silverware for your Fourth of July picnic!
Simply add blue food coloring to the water and put in some pretty red and white flowers. Just be careful not to leave the white flowers in too long or they will turn blue as they drink the water.
A little burlap and ribbon make these jars pretty!
Use twine to wrap an inexpensive small flag around the jar. Fill with a little sand and a candle for soft lighting while shooting off fireworks.
These may take a little more work, but they sure are pretty.
I made these glitter jars for last years celebration. They are really easy to make and are so pretty at night.
I could go on and on with ideas! I hope these have brought you just a little inspiration for that little somethin’ extra for your 4th celebration.
The Bible tells us that once we accept Christ, we are given special gifts to be used for His glory. Not everyone uses their gift in the same way. If you aren’t sure how to best use your gift, or if you are kind of getting tired of using your gift in the same way, ask God to show you a different way He can use you. Ya just never know what He might have in mind.
Hope you are enjoying my Red, White and Blue series.
