Last week, I tried to redecorate my house by shopping my house and moving things from one room to another. I came to realize, I don’t have a lot of stuff to shop from. I like it that way. I don’t like a lot of stuff, but I didn’t have enough to really work with. I decided to go shopping.
I hit the Goodwill store. I went in looking for nothing in particular and found some treasures. It seems whenever I go looking for that one thing in mind, I never find it so, finding these treasures was fun.
I walked past all the clothes and went straight to the back of the store where they keep the donated furniture and knick-knacks.
This butter dish was next to catch my eye. I may use it for butter, or I may use it to hold keys or change. I may hang it on the wall. The possibilities are endless.
Here is my best find for this shopping trip.
It needs some major work. The springs are broken, as is the front right leg. (On the left in the picture) I plan on recovering it. I have spent the last two nights searching for material for it. I need to decide what room I want to use it in first before I pick a fabric.
If these pieces above could talk, I wonder what they would be saying right now. If they had feelings, I wonder how they may have felt at the Goodwill store. Would they have felt like they were past their prime? Out of date? Old and useless? Ugly? Unwanted?
How do they feel now? Scared to be at a new place? Excited? Cherished and loved? Is the chair looking forward to being fixed?
I’ve noticed some of my Facebook friends seem to feel like my new treasures might have felt. Not just my young friends, who wish they had a date to the upcoming prom, but older ones in broken relationships or have never been in a relationship. I pray for those friends. I pray that they will cry out to Jesus and let Him love them as only He can. I also pray that somehow, someway I can show them that are loved and valuable to both God and me.
Is there someone in your life that might be feeling lonely, sad, discouraged? Pray and ask God to show you how you might be able to reach out to that person this week.
Hope you have a great week!
