Scalloped Potatoes

“And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.” Luke 12:29

It is my first time making these. My family really enjoyed them. I have to admit they were YUMMY!!


  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  •  1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup dry milk (powered)
  • 2 cups water
  • bacon bits (I just sprinkled handfuls) or 1 1/2 cups chopped ham

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Peel and thinly slice potatoes.

Melt 3 tbsp butter over low heat; blend in flour, salt and pepper.

Cook until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat.

Stir in dry milk and water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. If the butter mixture seems lumpy at first it’s ok. It will smooth itself out.

Spray casserole pan with cooking oil spray (Pam) and cover bottom with 2 sliced potatoes. Sprinkle with some onion and bacon bits or ham.

Pour 1/3 of the sauce over potatoes. Repeat with 2 more layers of potatoes/onions/bacon and sauce.

Cover and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 50-60 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
