Hidden in Plain Sight

When we built our house 24 years ago, we didn’t put in a basement or a garage. I also didn’t want a lot of closets. My mother in-law couldn’t believe that I didn’t put in any more storage closets than the linen closet. It is a choice I have not regretted.

I don’t like clutter. (Don’t tell all my table tops that. They will just laugh at you.) I don’t like to hang onto lots of things. If I haven’t worn it in two years, it goes. I don’t have many collections. I’m not all that sentimental.

I do have things that need storage. So, where do I store things?

In plain sight.

Hidden in Plain SightThe hutch stores our…

???????????????????????????????hats and gloves. It also stores our…

???????????????????????????????blankets and some knick knacks not it use.

???????????????????????????????We got these cheese boxes several years ago. The duck one belonged to my mom. She stored sewing stuff in hers. We store…

???????????????????????????????pillow covers,

???????????????????????????????a hook rug (that I will never finish) and

???????????????????????????????some magazines. Some really, really old magazines.

???????????????????????????????My Velcro board holds all my little stuff.

???????????????????????????????Everything from rubber burns to push pins to buttons, to paper clips to any little thing that needs to be stored. You can find how I made it here.

???????????????????????????????I covered shoe boxes with some contact paper. They hold my crafting supplies.

I was looking on Pinterest to find some other ways I can hide things in plain sight. I love these idea!

coke bottle crateI could shoot myself for getting rid of my cook bottle case. I had one in college and used it to put my make-up in. I would love to have it back.

You can believe that I am on the hunt for baskets at thrift stores and yard sales. I don’t care if they match. I need this in my laundry room.

off the counter! I want to use some of these out on the porch hold garden tool, pots and seeds. You can get them from Ikea.

These next two are my favorite.

doggie door How about this for hiding the doggie food.

A way to hide the kitty litter box! My daughter needs this for her new kitten.

Sadly, for many, God’s glory is hidden in plain sight. They can’t see it in the a sunset, or in a storm. They can’t see it on a snowy winter day, or feel it on a warm summer day. They can’t see it in the beauty of a flower, the sway of the trees in a gentle breeze. They can’t see in on a starry night.

Do you hide things in plain sight? I would love to hear about it. I need some more ideas!

Have a great day!

Now that’s a creative way to hide the litter box. I like that Coke crate hung up with all those useful cubbies. I’ve never heard of a Velcro board–interesting. I like open shelves (but not the dust). The IKEA rail/hanger reminds me of a picture rail I saw in a magazine. If I were starting over, I would definitely want those.
