A Frugal Valentine’s Day

valentine24 Friday is Valentine’s Day! We like to show our loved ones how much we love them in special ways. A problem for some of us is those special ways can be quite expensive. Some of us are on a really tight budget and there is hardly any wiggle room for extras like Valentine’s Day.

To help you out, I have found some ideas that are not so on the expensive side and still show your love.

A simple hand written note – even if it is just the words “I Love You.” Cards are good, but to see it in your own handwriting is even more special.

A candle light dinner at home – make his or her favorite meal and serve it with soft candle light and music.

Go out for dessert – after the meal, go get some dessert and then…

Go star-gazing – take some blankets and find a place to just sit and look at the stars.

Just one flower will do – it doesn’t have to be a huge bouquet. And it doesn’t even have to be a rose. Give her favorite flower and she will know that remember what she likes.

Leave small reminders – all over the house. Sticky notes with hearts, I <3 U, even your lip prints, ladies.

Flirt a little more than usual – enough said there

Cuddle – in front of the fireplace with some hot chocolate. Lay some blankets and pillows out and enjoy the romance

Movie for two – on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn and drinks

Another night – The restaurants can be really crowded on Valentine’s night. Wait for another night to go out. It may be a lot less stressful as well.

Do breakfast instead of dinner – breakfast in bed or go out. Breakfast will cost less than the dinner and will get the day started off on a romantic note.

A couples devotion – this may be a little uncomfortable for some. Look up some verses from the Song of Songs and do a couple’s devotion. Show him or her your love for God.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!

Love ya,

Jayne

Some fine suggestions for “sparkin” this Valentine’s Day.

  2. Fun to read these ideas, Jayne. I think we’re going to celebrate on Saturday, since Friday is a busy day for us this year. I like your breakfast idea though.

Re your comment on my post “What Sex Unlocks in Marriage,” oh I agree, Jayne. Thank you.

Have a great week. Enjoy your man!

Thank you, Jennifer! I have no idea what we are going to do. It will totally depend on the weather, as we are looking at snow and ice and the possibility of power going out. You know we folks in the south just can’t handle the snow very well! haha
