Food for the Fourth

I am excited because today is the day I reveal who the winner of my very first give away is. Before I do that, we can not do a Red, White and Blue series without including some yummy food. I want to do every one of these for our Fourth celebration.

fun food

I tried to pick some that you can make just by looking at the picture. My kind of recipe. For the others, just click on the link for the recipe.

Let’s start with breakfast. The most important day of the day, right?

breakfast

How about waffles topped with bananas, strawberries and blue berries? Doesn’t that look delicious?

We will, hopefully, be at the lake, so we will be outside all day long. I mean ALL. DAY. LONG. Snacks will be a huge part of our day.

watermelon What’s summer or the Fourth without watermelon?  Putting it on a stick just looks like fun!

star_watermelon_fruitsaladUse a cookie cutter to make star shapes and throw in some blueberries and strawberries. You could add some white with some mini marshmallows.

fruit flag I love this fruit  flag made of blueberries, strawberries and bananas.

apple crunch mixThis Apple Crunch mix looks yummy! It has 2 cups cinnamon-flavored oat square cereal, 2/3 cup original or cinnamon-flavored crisp baked apple pieces, 1/2 cup shelled lightly salted pistachio nuts or coarsely chopped toasted pecans and 1/4 cup golden raisins.

mini subsMini sub sandwiches would be perfect for dinner. Now, when a southerner says “dinner,” we mean lunch. “Supper” is what we call dinner. Confused? Me too! I call them lunch and dinner. Mini sub sandwiches would be perfect for lunch!

hamburger Hamburgers will definitely be for dinner!

hot dog rocket These hot dog rockets would be fun to make! Looks like they just wrapped the hot dog in a crescent roll and put it on a stick. Doritos on top and a cupcake liner for the flame. Fun! Fun!

potato saladPotato Salad is also a most for us. I think I will try this recipe.

You have to end the Fourth with S’mores!

I love this S’mores bar!

Now, I am hungry! Can’t wait to make and eat all this yummy food!!

Now, for the moment you have been waiting for. Or not! You may have just scrolled down to see who won. haha I would have too!

The winner is Windleg. Her comment was “We will just have gotten back from our beach trip. I foresee us unpacking, resting, and grilling. Of course, there will be swimming and fireworks too. Perhaps a little tubing on the lake if we can get dad rested up.” I sure do hope “dad” is rested for that tubing on the lake! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Please email me, with your address, at hisheartandhome@yahoo.com by June 26, 2014 to claim your prize. I want to make sure you get it in time to use for the Fourth!

There is a little less than two weeks until the Fourth! I am getting really excited! Mainly because all my kids will be under one roof at our favorite place for the Fourth!

I have a couple of more posts for the Red, White and Blue series. One is crafts for the kids and the other is…I’m not sure yet.

Love ya,

Jayne

That waffle looks good! Watermelon on a stick looks like it would be less messy. Lots of cute red-white-and-blue ideas. The snack mix looks tempting, too.

Hearing from you makes my day!
