My Fall Chalkboards

My Fall Chakboards There is just something about chalkboards that I just love.

IMG_1694I’m not sure if it is the feel of the chalk in my hands.

IMG_1699 Or the feel of it on my hands when I wipe it off.

IMG_1693Maybe it’s the sound of the chalk rubbing against the board.

IMG_1695 It could be all the different textures you can make with chalk.

IMG_1691I don’t think it is the way the chalk dust tickles my nose when erased.

IMG_1692I like how a chalkboard can be used as “art.”

IMG_1698I never understood why my teacher would call it a blackboard when clearly it was green.

IMG_1700For me, it was always fun when the teacher would allow me to draw on her board after school. I used to let my students do that.

flavors Now a days, classrooms no longer have chalkboards. They have whiteboards…and smart boards.

IMG_1871But they are just not the same.

IMG_1872 There is no dust to beat out of the erasers.

IMG_1872No getting into trouble for running your fingernails down it.

IMG_1870 No adding different textures with markers.

IMG_1868To me, chalkboards are as American as, well…apple pie.

pumpkins I think I beginning to collect chalkboards.

pumpkins side Three so far. No four.

pumpkins closeI’m even thinking about making a chalkboard clock. How fun would that be?!

Oh, and I love how you can change a chalkboard along with the seasons.

Do you have a favorite chalkboard memory? I’d love to hear it!

Until then,

Jayne

Love your chalkboards and your art work! You are so talented! I had a small chalkboard as a girl that I used when I would play school. I loved it! Now my daughter’s bedroom door is painted with chalkboard paint. She and her friends love to decorate it! Thanks for sharing :)

    Love your artwork and creativity:-)

When I was a little girl, I loved chalkboards and bulletin boards. We used to decorate for EVERY season and event. It was a Catholic School so we had many events and lots of info on Saints.

It’s funny how we used to feel so special when we were chosen to clean the erasers and board…which meant we got to go outside and hit the erasers together making a huge cloud of chalk:-)

Thank you! It did make you feel pretty special to get to clean the erasers, didn’t it? And I loved making that dust cloud! Kids with whiteboards in their classrooms just don’t know what they are missing out on!
