Clean Memories

I grew up using Ivory soap.

IMG_1332My mother was very sensitive to perfumes, so Ivory was the only thing she could use.

IMG_1309I have never had a strong sense of smell but,

IMG_1311the smell of Ivory soap is one I recognize right away. Love that smell.

IMG_1314Growing up, we had the Childcraft books. Remember those? One was specifically on arts and crafts.

IMG_1316I remember one craft was carving soap into animal shapes. Mine never did turn out quite like the ones in the book.

IMG_1317I love the lather that soap makes. I love to roll it in my hands till I have way more bubbles than I need.

IMG_1319I love the feel of the water going from cold to warm as I rinse my hands off. MM says “wrench” for rinse. That has always made me laugh.

IMG_1321When I was little, I like the way the Ivory soap would float in the water. I like to use it at the lake to wash the mud off my feet because it does float.

IMG_1324I had some problems with really dry skin in college, so now I bath with a soap that has moisturizer in it.

IMG_1329I still prefer to use the Ivory to wash my hands.

IMG_1325It’s amazing how something like soap can bring back so many memories.

IMG_1326I also remember how clean I felt the day I excepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I could have used all the Ivory soap in the world and not have felt as clean as I did that day. It was so refreshing. And freeing!

Ivory soap, Childcraft books, and the lake – all favorite childhood memories. We also used Ivory at the lake because it would float. Thanks for the memories and the reminder of Jesus’ cleansing blood.

Ivory was a staple at our house, too. Lovely dishes you found for your soap.

  3. I remember my Grandmother Lydia always used lifebuoy…

Hearing from you makes my day!
