The Beauty of Winter

After my mother died my dad moved to the North Georgia mountains. He loved it up there. We would visit him about every six weeks. That meant we saw the mountains in every season.

I think winter was my dad’s favorite.

My dad was good at seeing the beauty in all seasons, but he noticed that in the winter you can see through the trees much farther than you can in the summer.

Dad said you can see the skeleton of a tree in the winter.

DSCN0186He was right.

???????????????????????????????I would have missed a lot of this gorgeous sunset if the trees had been full of leaves.

DSCN0188He would say that even though the tree looks dead, it is still full of life.

My dad was right.

Winter is a beautiful season.

Enjoy it!

Winter is the only season I can see the birds in the trees. The rest of the year they are hidden by leaves.

I had never thought of that, but you are right! I have enjoyed watching the blue jays and the cardinals this winter. Especially on the rainy days. they seem to be out and about more.
