Today is one of those days we all remember what we were doing when it happened.
I was sitting on my couch pealing apples from our trees to make apple sauce. My Man came in and asked if I had heard. I wasn’t watching TV, so I was unaware. After we turned it on, watching the horror unfold was all I did for the rest of the day. Even after I picked the kids up from school, I was right back in front of the TV, trying to explain to my children about the evil in the world.
So, today we remember.
We remember the firemen, police and rescue workers who gave their lives in a war they didn’t even know they were fighting in.
And those who helped save lives that fateful day.
We remember all the brave men and women who have given their lives on the battle fields after this fateful day.
Let us remember the freedoms that they provide for us and that those freedoms aren’t really free.
None of us remember the sacrifice made one particular day in history. None of us were born. But we have heard the story and we believe. It was a one man war. No guns, no weapons of any kind were used. Just pure love. This sacrifice gave us all the chance to have the ultimate freedom. Freedom from sin. Freedom to have a relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth. As we remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms on 9/11 and 12/7, let us not forget the One who gave us ultimate freedom so many years ago.
If you have never accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross as something He did for you, I urge you to do so today. He paid the price of your sin, which is death, for you. Tell Him thank you and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. It will change your life. It will be a day you never forget.
