Slip Sliding Away

Poor Mojo. He is so cute when he gets excited.

excited 003It is raining cats and dogs here in Georgia this morning. Several south Georgia schools are closed because of flooding. There have also been several accidents with fatalities. Please pray for those families.

Back to Mojo.

I went outside to get some wood for the wood stove. Did I mention it is also cold here?

When I came back in, Mojo took advantage of the fact that my arms were full of wood and I couldn’t get in the door quickly, so he flew in and made a bee line for the kitchen. He knows we sometimes let Tater in and feed her and he loves cat food!

excited 001In this picture I am standing at the door looking into the kitchen. Now that you have the picture let me tell you “the rest of the story.” Mojo, flying, hit the kitchen floor with his wet paws, back feet slipped out from underneath him and he went sliding into the rolling island knocking it a couple of feet from where it stands. I called him and he went down the hallway, into the foyer and back out the door. In other words, he made a circle of the downstairs.

I went out for more wood, ’cause the guys split the wood into such heavy pieces I can’t carry but 2 at a time. I have no idea what they were thinking when they split it so big.

Mojo took advantage of me and my weak arms full of wood again, made a bee line for the kitchen, hit the floor with wet paws, back feet came our from underneath again and he hit the rolling island a second time, knocking it a couple of more feet. I called. He went down the hall again, and through the foyer and back out the door.

You would think that he would have known the second time there was nothing to eat. Poor thing.

How many times have I gotten excited about a ministry opportunity and ran through the door, past God and hit the floor with my wet feet only to have them slip out from under me and I go sliding? God calls me and I get up and run towards Him, taking the long way, still trying to do the ministry I’m not called to do. I come back to the door where God is standing, only to run back in when another opportunity opens and I repeat the process all over again.

How patient is God with me when I do this? I could have gotten mad at Mojo, but it really was funny to see him sliding…twice. I don’t think God laughs at us, but He may just smile and be glad to see our enthusiasm.  He will work with it and get us through the door He wants us to enter. We just need to let Him tell us what door and when.
