My sweet baby boy gave me this card for Valentine’s Day.
I really shouldn’t call him a baby boy.
Now, he is a sweet, young man.
I thought the card was very appropriate coming from him.
Not because of the candy he got me to go with it, but because of what my title was on the card.
“Mother”
That’s what he calls me when he wants something.
My eldest, by 3 minutes, calls me “Mama.”
My middle child, by 3 minutes or 4 years and 3 months depending on how you look at it, calls me “Mommy.”
Oh, they all call me “mom” or “mama” at some point. Dillon even calls me “Ha Ha.” That’s Japanese for mama. He took Japanese as his foreign language in high school. My middle child even calls me “Jayne” when I am not answering to “Mama.” We are usually in a crowd of people when I don’t answer her. Do you know how many “Mamas” are in a crowd of people?
I think it is sweet they all have their special name for me…even if they just want something. Oh, and they have a special tone of voice to go along with it. You know the one. All sweet and innocent.
This got me to thinking about what I call God.
When I want something I call Him “Father.” Of course I use my sweet and innocent voice with it. When I am pleading with Him, He is “Lord.” When I am talking to Him as my friend, just telling Him about my day, He is “Jesus.” When I start my prayers, trying to be respectful He is “Gracious Heavenly Father.”
What do you call Him?

Jayne,
Ahh, those Mama moments from our kids of all ages… I love them.
Sorry for my delay in getting back to you from your comment on my post “A Coffee Break with the Stars.”

Those mommy moments are sweet. They become even more precious when they are out on their own and come to you for advice or with a need. That’s when you know you have done your job.
Hi Jayne,
Re your comment on my post “The Radical Choices after ‘I Do’… Lest you misunderstand… we are so human and broken too. Thanks though.

It’s your willingness to admit that that makes it so sweet!
I never thought of the names and how we use them for each other and our Creator.
He has many names, and any of them can be used at any time.
So true, Patti! He has a name for each and every attribute. I’ve heard it said that is why “Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” Every time they saw a new attribute they said Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!
Jayne, how fun that you get to host that D-Now event for the teen guys. Thanks for doing that. May you have energy, lots of food, and laughter as you watch them grow in their faith.

We will have plenty of food and laughter for sure. As for the energy…we will be soooo tired on Sunday. The schedule says “11:30 Lights out” Yea Right…like THAT’S gonna happen. That is the time you got to know the youth even better. I love the late night talks and fun.
