I really need to be cleaning the oven right now. Sprayed it down last night, so I have to do it sometime today. Just not right at this moment.
I was walking this morning when I heard the song Praise You In This Storm , by Casting Crowns, that made me think of my nephew, Brett.
Brett has moved from Georgia to North Dakota because of the work that is available there right now. Every now and then he will post on Facebook about life in North Dakota. Not too long ago he posted this.
“It’s going to be negative 22 degrees tonight and tomorrow in Bismarck with power outages and 40 mph winds. Have to go buy lots of candles, PB&J and other easy to make food. Will keep fridge stuff in a cooler outside…Awesome! Went to Walmart this morning and had to help a mother carry her 4 year old to her car because the wind knocked him over and she had a two year old in her buggie that was freezing!”
I felt so bad for the little fellow! I felt so proud of my nephew!
Now, I, being from the south and have only gone up north during the summer, know nothing about negative 22 degrees. Being from the south and more specifically from Florida (my home state) I do know about 40 mph winds. Even here in Georgia we have to deal with tornadoes every once in a while. Just a week ago, some came through Georgia. I also know this:
Strong winds + negative temperatures = BBBRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, as I was listening to the song and thinking about my nephew, I was reminding of how my Heavenly Father catches me when the storms of life seem to knock me off my feet. He picks me up and carries me to safety and protects me from the cold of the storm. The winds may still blow all around me, but He wraps me in His loving arms and takes the brunt of the storm for me. What a loving God we have.

Amen! You have a gift to show us how God is in every part of our life.
Thank you. I think we all so, we just need to let God tell His story through us.
Sometimes, we get knocked down and HE delivers someone who lends a hand and helps us back up! This blog of yours is so nicely done. You’re a blessing! Be well, my friend. xoJulia
Awww Thank you!! That is so sweet of you. I just pray that if God wants to use it to reach more people for His glory He will enlarge it. If not, then that’s ok too! I’m reaching who needs it right now.
You nephew is quite handsome, Jayne. Apparently, he has a big heart, too. I can’t imagine having to go out with little ones in that kind of weather.
Thank you, Patti! He looks a lot like his grandfather, my dad. His mom, my sister, taught him to be a southern gentleman. I can’t imagine going out in that kind of weather at all! I think I would shop and stock up while it is warm and not go back outside till it was warm again. Guess that’s why I live in the south! Love our weather!!!
Ah, you rest in the Lord during times of struggle. Praises to His name. I came from Northern Ohio/Southeast Michigan, so I know about the freezing temps and howling winds. Your nephew sounds like a really nice person. Blessings to you, Jayne…
Thank you, Carol Ann! Blessings to you too!
Yes, we have a loving God.
Whew, I’m from MN and we get pretty cold too. I could relate to your nephew.
Thanks for stopping by my post “Why You’re Never Too Old.”
Hug that senior tight.
Savoring those last moments… oh, I get it.

I still give him a kiss every night before he goes to sleep.
