I am surrounded by choices! Too many choices. Some are easy to make and some I really, really have to think about. Ones like..
To get out of bed on a cold, rainy day.
To make my bed once I am up on a cold, rainy day.
Not sure what I chose today. It’s half made. Can you make half a choice? Hmmm…
To eat a healthy breakfast or not.
The Pop-Tarts mean I don’t have to wash a bowl. The Special K will help me to lose weight.
To lose weight or not. Next…
To exercise or not.
Monday, I was all gung-ho about it, but Tuesday and Wednesday not so much.
Which leads us back to losing weight or not. Next…
The choice the words I can say. Oh my…
To be a hard worker.
If you knew me, you would totally understand how hard that is for me, the Queen of Lazy.
I don’t know about you, but my life seems to be a cycle of deciding at bedtime that tomorrow will be different, better. Then tomorrow gets here and I make the same choices I made the day before and once again at bed time say I will do things differently tomorrow.
There is one choice we should not put off. That choice is to follow Jesus. To say that you will decide tomorrow to follow Jesus is making the decision to not follow Him. You are not promised tomorrow. You may not get the chance to choose again.
And if you have chosen to follow Jesus, you have the choice each day to be obedient to Him. You have to “continue to work out your salvation” (Philippians 2:12). To work out you salvation means to make the choice to be obedient every time you have a choice to be obedient, which, if you think about it, is every minute of every day. This takes effort. And work!
This is where Jesus can be our strength when we are weak, because I don’t know about you, but I get tired of making decisions. Sometimes it is just plain easier to do it the wrong way, then the right. And with my A.D.D., ping-pong bouncing ball brain, my thoughts tend to wander off way over yonder. (When a southern says that, it means a long, long way off in no particular direction. And it’s pronounced W-aaaaaaaaaaa-yyy over yonder!!! It takes us a full second or two just to say the word.)
So, what is your choice today? To follow Him or not. To obey Him or not. To not make the decision is to make the decision to not follow or obey. (Philippians 2:12-13)
Now, do I lose weight or not. Next….
Love ya,
Jayne

Love it! You have described the daily decision grind perfectly. There’s a lot we can put off, but not Jesus.
Like my Sunday School teacher always says, “no decison is a decision.”
Thanks Jane! As usual your writings make me think and look at my own daily choices..
They make me think too! haha
You are so right about those same choices, day after day, and the ONE of utmost importance. If we get that right, the rest will follow.
Yes, it will. Still, for me I have to make an effort to be obedient.
