Just My Thoughts

People are asking so many questions about what happened last Friday. Now we are getting into the blaming and political aspects of it. Here are my questions and thoughts.

Why is it okay for us, as a nation to keep these families in “our thoughts and prayers” after the tragedy, but it’s not okay for the teachers, especially of young children, not to pray with them before something like this happens?

Why are people talking about gun control when the government has already taken the most powerful weapon we have out of the schools? That being the word of God.

Why are we not talking about putting God back in the schools? Why are Christians sitting back and allowing this to happen? Why aren’t our voices louder?

Why are we so ashamed of being titled “intolerant?” Are we supposed to “tolerate” sin?

Are we afraid of being called judgmental? People only call us that when their sin has been exposed. Aren’t we supposed to loving and compassionately help people turn from their sin? How can we do this if it isn’t exposed?

Some school system do allow “a moment of silence”, but why it is not long enough for people, who want to pray, to pray? Ten seconds are not enough. Are parents teaching their children to use that moment to pray? I respect the right of those who choose not to pray, but are their parents teaching their kids to respect the right of those who do want to pray? Respect goes two ways.

Why do we put so much attention on the wrong-doer and not the victims? Do any of us remember even one child’s name?

Why do we only pray for the victims? Are any of us praying for the shooter’s family? Are any of us forgiving him?

What is God trying to teach me, my family, my community, this nation?

How can I join Him in His work to tell others the good news of Jesus?

Where was God that day? Wasn’t He protecting them? He was there. He was there in ways we can’t see or understand. He loved the shooter enough to allow him the free will to choose right from wrong. Mentally ill or not. He even protected the ones who lost their lives that day in ways we will never understand here on earth. He will use this in mighty ways for His purpose and will.

I trust my Lord and Savior to know the plans He has for us. Plans to prosper us and not harm us. Plans to give us hope and a future. I trust He hasn’t forgotten nor forsaken us, although we have forgotten and forsaken Him.

Just my thoughts. Thank you for letting me share them with you.
